I liked this tour, we were able to see a lot of the city in one day. A far as our tour guides, the first tour guide we had was very funny, very interesting and pointed out every little detail. He did a great job. However, our second tour guide spent the majority of the time texting someone on her phone and not giving us information about what we were passing. My husband and I were only in the San Francisco area for a couple of days. It was our first visit there, and we were mostly interested in the Alcatraz tour. It was phenomenal. As a bonus, our daughter booked the Double Decker bus and we are very glad she did. We saw more of the city than we would have if we hadn't gone on the bus, and it was very informative and fun. Our only problem? We didn't take more pictures! The value of the Alcatraz tour, and the Downtown and Golden Gate bus passes are more than worth the price. It was easy to find our meeting point, and overall, I feel that they took us to enough places. I do feel that we missed out on Chinatown. I was under the impression that we would go through it, but instead, they just pointed to an oriental style entrance to a street and said "that's Chinatown up ahead." Our tour guide tried to be funny, but he really wasn't. Our biggest problem though, was that when we arrived at 2:00 P.M. to check in for our tour, the two girls at the desk gave us all of our tickets and wrote the times for the Golden Gate tours on the back of the tickets. There was a tour at 9, 11, 12:30, 1:30, and 4. Clearly we had missed the first 4. So the following day, we came back at 11 for that tour, only to find out that the only tours that day were at 9 and 4. We had missed the first one obviously, and we couldn't stay for the 4 P.M. tour, so we couldn't take the tour that we had paid money for. Mark W., United States, 10-2007

Th Alcatraz tour is excellent - very professional tour guides, clear instructions for boarding the boat, good information on the island - in the displays, film, and prison. The park rangers are very helpful. The bus tours were okay, although two of the loops only have limited times to join, and the information from the tour guides was less informative than on some tour buses I have experienced. The tour schedule for the day depends on the availability for Alcatraz ferry tickets.
For example, if Alcatraz Ferry is available in the morning; You will pick up tickets for the Alcatraz Ferry direct from the Pier 33 "Will Call" window. After your Alcatraz Tour you return to the CitySightseeing San Francisco Office to join either the Downtown Loop for any of the afternoon departures or the Golden Gate Loop for the 4:00 PM departure. The Downtown Loop departs every hour between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM in the Spring and Summer.
If there is no availability for Alcatraz ferry in the morning, upon arrival at Fisherman's Wharf you will start with any of the AM Downtown Loop Tour departures or the Golden Gate Lop at 9:00 AM, your choice, and then continue to Pier 33 and the Alcatraz Ferry and Tour in the afternoon.

Alcatraz Tickets are held at Pre-Paid Will Call:
Your Alcatraz boarding tickets will be held at the Alcatraz Cruises Dock at PIER 33.
When you present your Alcatraz Voucher, picture ID and credit card used on the reservation transaction the boarding tickets are issued. Be sure to show up 30 to 45 minutes before your Alcatraz cruise! Tickets may not be picked up prior to the tour date.
